For My Dad!

Hi All, Just a quick post tonight.  Hubby and I escaped last week to the beach in Maine and are just getting back.  It was great to get away and to get home despite the fact that we hit the road again tomorrow for the weekend.  Jim and I are heading to Yarmouth for my Dad's birthday, and of course seeing that we have been away, I had to make him a card tonight.  I asked him before we went away what he wanted for his birthday (what do you buy the man that has everything?????)...all he wanted was one of my handmade cards.  I thought that was very sweet but provided me with no help with a gift idea.  The card is a simple 5x5 card.  I used the Graphic 45 Proper Gentleman collection.  I used some of the paper and one of the die cut tags.  The black bling is from Recollections and the letters (D-A-D) are wooden letters from Michael's in the raw wood section.  I made the lollipop flower with some material that I got at a second hand store.  The stick pin was made with some beads from my stash.  I used a scrap of black lace with black satin ribbon over top of it. I hope he likes it!

Another Year Older...

Hi All, here is a post on a card that I made for my friend's Birthday.  It is also a challenge card for Mojo Monday challenge 199.  I used some left over scraps from my stash and some pink Bazzil card stock.  The image and sentiment are from a Stampalicious stamps set.  I die cut them both with circle and scallop circle Spellbinders.  The Scallop felt was from Creatology at Michaels.  The Ribbon is from Michaels.  The flower is from Prima and the big bling in the middle is from my stash.

A Gift for Someone Special....

Hi All, Here is a quick post on an altered project that I made last night.  I am giving it to a dear friend of mine.  It is a wooden 'key box' that I purchased from Dollarama.  I painted it with Espresso acrylic paint.  I covered the box with TPC Studios, Grandma's Attic Vintage Strip paper that I actually got on clearance from Photo Memories.  I used some crochet trim to cover the front of the door and around the base of the box.  I used some scrap trim across the top and added some satin flowers.  I inked everything with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I used Ginger Alcohol Ink on the clasp to take the bight gold color from it.  The flower, leaves and butterfly on the cover are from a set of metal pieces that I got from Michael's in the stepping stone/mosaic tile section.

A Little Birdie Told Me...

Hi All, here is a quick post on something that I altered.  I bought this little wooden birdhouse at our local Dollar Store.  I painted it with Espresso paint then did the white glue crackle effect with Vanilla acrylic paint on the roof and front of the house.  I distressed the edges with sand paper and hot glued jute rope around it.  I used the Green Stack from DCWV and Mod Podged it to the house.  I adhered some butterflies to it and made a little nest and added some little humming birds to it to finish it off.  I plan to give it to my Mother in Law the next time we see her.  I think she will like it.

Lordy Lordy, Look Who's....

Hi All, here is a quick post on a card I made last night for a friends birthday.  Her name is Janice and she is a wonderful lady that I have had the privilege to get to know this past year.  Her birthday is this weekend and we are going to her place for a party (fingers crossed that it doesn't rain on Saturday).  I used her favorite paper, Webster's Pages.  I 'scrap lifted' this from a card magazine.  I used Aqua Bazzil card stock and adhered the Webster's Paper.  I used a Martha Stewart doily punch, some crochet lace and vintage rick rack.  I used a Stampin Up stamp set, called Happy Moments for the bird cage and sentiment.  I embossed them with Zing Gold embossing powder. I popped the sentiment up on dimensionals. I really hope she likes this.

Thinking of You!

Hi All, here is a quick post on a card I made for my friend, Vicki.  Vicki recently had her jaws broken and wired shut.  She is NOT finding the experience enjoyable at all! I saw a card like this in Card Creations Magazine and this was my take on it. I used Kraft card stock and a paper doily that I got at the Dollar store.  I inked the doily and the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I stamped and embossed the image and sentiment with Versa fine Onyx black and clear powder.  I added the crochet butterfly that I made (trying my hand at it but they are ROUGH...lol).  I adhered some pleated ribbon to it with hot glue and affixed some amber bling to the corners.
I hope it brings her some joy.

My First ATC Swap

Hi All, here is a post about the first ATC swap that I have ever participated in and therefore, this is the first ATC that I have ever made.  I die cut some chipboard with my ATC Sizzix die and covered it with cream card stock.  I used two sets of stamps from Stampin Up.  One was called Bliss and the other was Charming.  I used the background stamp from the Charming stamp set and stamped it out with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink(all the ink was Vintage Photo).  I used the word stamps (Bliss) and the butterfly from the Bliss set. I cut out the butterfly and the word and popped them up on dimensionals.  I used a brown Micron pen to show the trail left behind by the butterfly.  I used some scrap lace and hot glued it to the card.  The sunflower was from a pack of 'handmade stickers' from our local Dollar store and I glossy accented the centre of the flower and inked it up with VP Ink.  This swap took place at our local Stamp Store called Carousel Rubber Stamps.  Barbi, one of the fabulous employees there organized this swap.  Thanks to you Barbi!!!! We have decided as a group to continue this as a monthly swap, starting in September as the summer is so busy for every one.  The theme for this swap was, 'Us'.  The next one will be Fall/Autumn.
